- What’s the lowest level of strength, speed and
endurance that you need?
- Set up drills where there are multiple options
but only 1 that will result in "winning" (4 defenders with 1 gap being bigger
then the others and that one will be the winning route)
- Micro = individual, macro - team line,
collective = team cohesion
- Determine where you want to enter the forward 50 from and position
players/move the ball accordingly
- You need to add an element of perception to all drills
- Players want to know how they are contributing to
the team
- You must create an identifiable culture anchored
by unshakeable beliefs and values
- Adaptation takes place after you perform the
skill, not during it
- Preparation load should never exceed 50% of game day
demands except for low game-load players who need the extra loading from missed game time
- Make high intensity training a must so it becomes a
variable that becomes an obligation and thus doesn’t need to be gone on about
repeatedly
- Tell players what intensity they should use in each
drill (tactical/technical/physiological/psychological)
- Gauge each part of training as high/med/low for
each of intensity, impact-collision, volume and density
- Slow running is high collision as the foot is on
the ground for longer than sprinting)
- Structure and consistency creates perfection
- Density refers to how many breaks there is during a training session (low intensity continuous training = high density)
