In lower leagues of footy or teams that aren't blessed with great skills all over the ground, defense is probably your best avenue to staying in games long enough to win them.
What we'll look at today is a training drill for defending in not quite super-tight congestion but more so in a scenario where the opposition gather the ball off the ground in some open space but not so much that you, the defender/s, can't make an almost immediate impact on the ball, player and contest.
It's a very simple drill to run and is more about what expectations you set for the drill and how the drill is graded/scored as far as if the players/teams are being successful and not being successful.
Here's a video of the drill and below I'll give you some options on how to grade the drill to get the training and learning effect that you are specifically after here.
Players Required: 6 - 8
Balls Required: 1
Space Required: 11m x 12m
Drill Level: Easy
